Student Services Leader – Tracey Summerton – Assistant Principal Wellbeing & Engagement

TSOverseeing and coordinating student services in the College, including student counselling, well-being programs, integration, chaplaincy, liaising with relevant personnel and with external agencies.

Student Wellbeing Co-ordinator (SWC) – Belinda O’Meara

BOMStudents can discuss issues with our SWC – Belinda O’Meara – who has specialist training in welfare. Belinda liaises with other College support personnel and provides students with links to community organizations. Confidentiality is respected.

The Chaplain

BDOur Chaplain – Barb Davis – is a resource person for students and the College community. Problems/issues can be discussed in confidence and the Chaplain if deemed necessary will provide other resources and information.  See the  Chaplaincy Page for more information.


KHThe Careers Officer, led by our Careers Development Officer – Kerry Huke – provides a wide variety of information, support and resources for all students including dates of Tertiary Institution Open Days, assistance with further education applications, job applications and resumes, course selections and general advice useful for seeking employment. The Careers Officer also arranges Work Experience placements for Year 10 students in many different areas of employment.

Integration – Program for Students with Disability (PSD)

BTIt is Department of Education Policy for schools to make provision for students with special needs and/or disabilities. At Gisborne Secondary College these students are integrated into the classroom at every level possible. The Integration teacher, the Integration Aides and other support personnel facilitate such integration. Bronwyn Trevorah is our PSD Coordinator.

The House System

The College is divided into eight Houses. Every student and staff member is a member of a House and the House forms the primary point for pastoral care and support within the College.

Within each House, students are further divided into smaller multiage support groups known as ‘Mentor’ groups.

Literacy Co-ordinator

The College has established a Special Education Program to support students experiencing Literacy problems. Students are withdrawn from class and are provided with enhancement programs aimed at improving their Literacy skills. The Program Co-ordinator negotiates directly with parents regarding student participation in the Learning Centre.

2016 Year 9 RAID Progam
